Puppy Classes
These are a great way to socialize your new pup and learn to shape his/her behavior to meet the expectations you have for your new companion.
Your puppy should be between the ages of 7 and 17 weeks to start these classes. At this point her/his adult teeth have not yet immerged and it is the ideal time to teach bite inhibition.
Play with other pups is a part of each session so that they learn manners for playing with other dogs and interacting with other people.
Each session is 6 weeks in length and addresses the following:
coming when called, walking on leash without pulling, sitting to greet people, acceptance of handling, Tellington TTouch, how to deal with puppy behaviours such as biting, housetraining, chewing, guarding of food or toys, chasing, overcoming fear or shyness.
The emphasis is on how puppies learn so that you will learn to teach your pup the things that matter most to you. The methods used are positive reinforcement and management of the environment.
Classes run from 6:30 to 7:30 and 7:45 to 8:45 Tuesday nights.
The cost is $90. Checks and cash can be accepted in the training hall. Payment by Visa, Mastercard or Debit is available through the office during office hours.
The Pembroke Animal Hospital requires all puppies have their first two sets of shots, including Bordetella (Kennel Cough Vaccine).
